News round-up: Former Disney, Quibi exec joins Apple, more

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up of news items you should check out. First up: Tim Connolly, a former executive at Disney and Quibi, has joined Apple as Apple explores ways to bundle Apple TV+ with other services, reports The Telegraph

° Reuters says Italy’s antitrust authority has opened an inquiry into Google Inc, Apple Inc and Dropbox Inc over cloud computing services.

° Apple’s ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications on the Apple Watch Series 4 and 5 have received domestic approval and certification from Japan’s medical authorities, indicating that both features should go live in the country very soon, according to MacRumors.

° Aligning with previous reports, Digitimes claims that the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will launch before the higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

° 9to5Mac notes that Apple’s retail store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey will move to an upgraded space with an all-new design on Sept. 10 at 11 a.m.

° Despite reports to the contrary last week, LG says some 2018 TVs will get AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support.
