Look for the non-5G iPhone 12 in October, the 5G version in November

Apple may launch its 5G iPhones in two stages, with two 6.1-inch models in the first and another two 6.7- and 5.4-inch devices in the second, claims DigiTimes.

Shipments of flexible boards for the new smartphones new iPhones will peak some 2-4 weeks later than usual this year, the article adds, quoting unnamed sources. The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks that the iPhone 12 will indeed launch in two stages, but that the 5G models will all debut at the same time.

During last week’s call with analysts about the company’s latest financials, Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri confirmed that the next gen iPhones would be delayed a bit. I’m expecting the non-5G versions to arrive in October (about a month later than usual) with the 5G models arriving in customers’ hands in November.
