Deadline reports Grace Kaufman has landed the lead role in Apple and A24’s The Sky Is Everywhere, an adaptation of the Jandy Nelson YA novel.
Nelson will adapt and write the script from hernovel, and Josephine Decker, who helmed Madeline’s Madeline and the Elisabeth Moss-starrer Shirley, is attached to direct. The novel follows a teen as she works through the loss of her sister, including accidentally falling in love.
As Deadline notes, Kaufman has mainly worked in TV, appearing on such shows as TNT’s The Last Ship and CBS’ Man With a Plan, where she played Matt LeBlanc’s daughter. Moviewise, her credits include the indie Sister opposite Reid Scott and All Summer’s End.
