Rumor: iOS could be renamed ‘iPhone OS’ at next week’s WWDC

Apple leaker Jon Prosser tweets that iOS could be rebranded “iPhoneOS” at next week’s Worldwide Developer Conference when version 14 of the operating system is previewed.

That’s the moniker Apple used for the original iPhone’s operating system. The Sellers Research Group says the rebranding makes sense in giving Apple the following operating systems aligned with their hardware: iPhoneOS (iPhone), iPadOS (iPad), macOS (Mac), watchOS (Apple Watch), and tvOS (Apple TV set-top box).
