Repair shop owner loses appeal in ‘counterfeit’ iPhone case

An independent repair shop in Norway has lost an appeal over the import of “counterfeit” Apple iPhone screens. An appeals court affirmed a judgement over shop owner Henrik Huseby, who’s now “on the hook” for not just destroying what Apple calls “counterfeit” iPhone screens he bought from China, but also for Apple’s legal costs of about US$26,000, reports AppleInsider.

In 2017 the tech giant’s lawyers sent Huseby a letter demanding that he immediately stop using aftermarket iPhone screens at his repair business and that he pay the company a settlement. Huseby decided to fight the tech giant, Apple sued, but Huseby won. Apple appealed the decision to a higher court, and has now won the appeal.
