The Morning Show co-runner, Kerry Ehrin, has signed a new multiple-year deal with Apple that will also see her develop new projects for the company’s streaming service, reports Deadline. She’ll continue to lead the Reese Witherspoon-Jennifer Aniston drama while also developing new projects for Apple TV+.
Ehrin, who is currently working on season two of the Golden Globe-nominated series, signed what was then Apple’s first overall deal when she boarded The Morning Show as showrunner in April 2018. She came to the series after her overall deal with Universal Television expired and she was in the market for a new pact at the time Apple was searching for a woman to take over for Jay Carson, who left the project due to “creative differences.”.
A return date for The Morning Show hasn’t been nailed won. The series was among dozens of productions forced to shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Morning Show‘s first season, which premiered on November 1, 2019, landed three Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Actress in a Drama Series for both Aniston and Witherspoon. The series was also honored with a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for Aniston, and a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Billy Crudup.
