Most Apple’s Australian retail stores open May 7; Austrian store opens today

Twenty-one of Australia’s 22 Apple Stores will reopen on May 7 at 10 a.m. (local time) following extended closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Apple’s updated regional retail webpages. The exception is the Sydney store.

That retail stores’s home page says the store is closed for “creative updates” and directs customers to online shopping options. No mention of coronavirus precautions or planned reopening dates are listed for the flagship.

“To start, we will open with additional safety procedures including temperature checks, social distancing and an adjusted schedule, to ensure customers and employees continue to stay healthy,” Apple noted in a statement to Bloomberg. “Our social distance protocol means a limited number of visitors in the store at one time so there may be a delay for walk-in customers.”

Also, Apple’s only retail store location in Austria is preparing to reopen today, according to a local report by Heute (as noted by 9to5Mac) Like all Apple Stores outside of greater China, the Vienna location closed in mid-March in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
