TechCrunch reports that Apple is working with production houses, getting some iPhone-powered rigs into the hands of producers and hosts to film TV shows during these pandemic times.
The smartphones have been used for a Parks and Rec reunion, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon’s late night shows, and American Idol. The latter uses three-camera setup, including three iPhone 11 Pros, a tripod and a ring light. The production team is helping out with camera setup and editing from home, notes TechCrunch.
What’s more, Apple is planning to use iPhones for streaming broadcasts at its “virtual” Worldwide Developer Conference, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. WWDC 2020 will launch June 22.
“WWDC20 will be our biggest yet, bringing together our global developer community of more than 23 million in an unprecedented way for a week in June to learn about the future of Apple platforms,” Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a press release. “We can’t wait to meet online in June with the global developer community and share with them all of the new tools we’ve been working on to help them create even more incredible apps and services. We look forward to sharing more details about WWDC20 with everyone as we get closer to this exciting event.”
