In a research note with Chinese research firm GF Securities, obtained by MacRumors, analyst Jeff Pu says Apple will launch the follow-up to the iPhone SE in mid or late—April and 5G iPhones in September and October.
The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) says this timetable sounds about right.
Pu predicts the 5G-equipped 5.4-inch and two 6.1-inch “iPhone 12” models will be available in September, followed by an 6.7-inch model in October.
As for the “sequel” to the iPhone SE, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously prognosticated that Apple would release a lower-priced smartphone (which, depending on which rumor you believe, will be dubbed the iPhone SE, iPhone SE 2, or iPhone 9) in the first quarter of 2020 for $399. He predicts its specs will include: an A13 CPU; 3GB of RAM; 64GB and 128GB options; and no 3D Touch feature. Kuo prognostics that the phone will come in silver space grey, and red options.
