Apple, Laurene Powell Jobs [Steve Jobs’ widow], actor Leonardo DiCaprio, and the Ford Foundation have partnered to launch America’s Food Fund, an initiative aimed at helping to ensure that all people have reliable access to food in the United States. Its goal is “to help ensure that all people have reliable access to food.”
“We recognize that food insecurity in America is growing at a rapid pace,” America’s Food Fund says on its website. “America’s Food Fund will launch with World Central Kitchen and Feeding America as its first two beneficiaries. As we continue to monitor and map food gaps, we will partner with additional organizations and businesses that are helping to meet the need.”
World Central Kitchen is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters. Feeding America is a United States–based nonprofit organization that is a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies
Apple, Powell Jobs, DiCaprio, and the Ford Donation have donated US$12 million. You can help as well by donating at the America’s Food Fund website.
