Apple CEO Tim Cook named to California task force

Apple CEO Tim Cook has been named to a task force in California that will focus on getting the economy up and running again, reports CNBC.

Billionaire philanthropist Tom Steyer, who launched an unsuccessful presidential campaign, will co-chair with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s chief of staff Ann O’Leary, a former senior advisor to Hilary Clinton. The panel, today by Newsom, will be composed of more than 70 members including former Chair of the Federal Reserve Janet Yellen, Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger, and Cook.

he Newsom administration projects the unemployment rate could top records set during the 2009 Great Recession when close to 13% of Californian’s were unemployed. According to CNBC, the task force will meet twice a month through 2020.
