Notable apps and updates, March 16-22

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

macOS

Cisdem AppCrypt for Mac has been upgraded to 4.6.1 with refined reminders on camera authorization. 

AppCrypt is an app locker and website blocker for Mac. It can lock one or multiple or all apps on Mac with one password. If someone who tries to open locked app enters a wrong password, AppCrypt will generate a report of the failed attempt and take a picture of the person. In the app’s Preferences, users can disable or enable the picture taking functionality.

Cisdem AppCrypt for Mac is available for download and purchase at the Cisdem AppCrypt for Mac website. Users can get a lifetime license with US$29.99 and have lifetime free upgrades. A demo is available for download. It requires macOS 10.10 or later.

What’s more, Cisdem Video Converter for Mac 5.2.0 has been released. The new version refines memory usage and fixes some bugs.

Cisdem Video Converter is a video converter, video downloader, video editor and DVD ripper, all rolled into one. Supporting almost all video and audio formats, it can convert video files and audio files for smooth playback on devices and media players. The video download feature supports over 1,000 websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. 

Cisdem Video Converter for Mac 5.2.0 is available for download and purchase at the Cisdem website. Pricing ranges from $9.99 to $29.99, depending on which conversion tools you choose.  A demo is available for download. It requires macOS 10.11 or later.

Apptorium has announced SideNotes 1.1, an update to their note-taking solution for macOS. 

The utility allows users to save all of their thoughts and ideas in a neat and organized package. SideNotes saves users’ ideas, graphics, task lists, and more. Version 1.1. brings search functionality for notes and folders, run on startup, the ability to move notes to other folders, drop shortcuts to files into notes, and more

SideNotes requires macOS 10.14 or later and costs $19.99. It’s available at the Mac App Store in the Productivity category and at the Apptorium website. A demo is available for download.

Skylum has announced the latest update to its flagship Luminar software: version 4.2. This free update contains several enhancements to the existing feature set, including Shine Removal for portraits. Also included is a brand-new feature, AI Augmented Sky, to help photographers create digital art.

Mac users can update by clicking in the top menu bar and choosing Luminar 4 > Check for updates. If you purchased via the Mac App Store, simply open the App Store and click the Updates tab
