Apple to temporarily close one of its Italian retail stores due to the coronavirus

Apple will temporarily close its Apple Oriocenter retail store in Italy’s province of Bergmo due to the coronavirus, reports AppleInsider. The store will be closed March 6 and 8. (Apple has 17 retail stores in Italy.)

Italy’s President of the President of the Council of Ministers has issued a degree that all medium and large retail stores, as well as commercial establishments within shopping centers, in the provinces of Bergamo, Lodi, Piacenza and Cremona are to close on Saturday and Sunday to prevent spread of the new coronavirus. Similar measures were established for other provinces and territories.

Italy was the worst-affected country from the coronavirus outside Asia earlier Wednesday, temporarily overtaking Iran in terms of the number of deaths and infections from the virus. CNBC reports that the death toll in Italy, Europe’s worst-affected country, jumped to 79 on Tuesday from 52. As of Wednesday morning, there are 2,502 cases of the virus in Italy.
