Apple places 39th on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list

Apple ranks 39th on Fast Company‘s Most Innovative Companies for 2020. That’s down from number one in 2018 and number 17 in 2019.

Here’s what the publication has to say about Apple: “Launched in September 2019, Apple Arcade is one of the freshest ideas in apps since the App Store debuted in 2008. The service offers unlimited access to more than 100 games for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, all blissfully devoid of ads and in-app purchases. For consumers, that’s a remarkable value at $5 a month; for Apple, it’s a new way to monetize the 1.5 billion active devices it has sold. Arcade’s excellence is the latest sign of how adept the company has become at services, a powerful growth business that hit a record $12.5 billion in revenue in the last quarter of 2019.”

Ahead of Apple in the top 50 list are Snap, Microsoft, Tesla, Bit Hit Entertainment, Hackerone, White Claw, Shopify, Canva, Roblox, Zipline, Kaios Technologies, Beyond Meat, Bravado, Messho, Spotify, Hello Sunshine, Luckin Coffee, Merck, Whoop, Sweetgreen, Sage Therapeutics, Indigo, Vimeo, Caastle, Thredup, Trove, Brex, Hopper, Strava, Immuta, Wattpad, Rothy’s, Calm, Twiga Foods, Color of Change, Carta, and Footprint. Trailing Apple in the top 50 are Truth Initiative, Vertex, Maven Clinic, Graphcore, Teachable, Bleacher Report, Rallyl, Omaze, Healthy.IO, Camero, and Meow Wolf
