News round-up: Apple investor lawsuit, senator targets Internet platforms, more

Apple investors on Thursday pushed back against the company’s accusation that they had “puzzle pled” their case, telling a California federal judge they had methodically laid out their allegations of misrepresentation and intentional wrongdoing relating to the company’s sluggish iPhones, reports Law360 (a subscription is required to read the entire article)

Senator Lindsey Graham, a top Trump ally, is targeting giant Internet platforms with a child protection measure that could threaten tech companies’ use of encryption and a liability exemption they prize, according to Bloomberg.

According to Reuters, Taiwan’s Wistron Corp plans to assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) for iPhones at its new plant in southern India.

Apple manufacturer Foxconn has seen a “fairly small impact” from the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak so far, but the company could face a “big” impact to its iPhone production if the Chinese government forces factories to remain closed for an additional week or longer, according to Reuters
