News round-up: ‘App Store Confidential,’ Apple stores in China, more

Apple is taking legal action against former german App Store manager Tom Sadowski and publisher Murmann Verlag to stop circulation of a book (App Store Confidential) about his work, under allegations it reveals confidential “business secrets” that the author wasn’t allowed to disclose. 

Apple it will reopen 10 more stores across China, following closures due to the Coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan. 

Speaking of the virus, Apple is reportedly shifting manufacture of AirPods, iPads, and Apple Watches from China to Taiwan due to ongoing outbreak.

In a note to clients, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo — as noted by MacRumors — Apple may gives Luxshare Precision — which supplies AirPods and Apple Watches — orders for iPhone assemblies to expected to reduce Apple’s new iPhone development and supply risk.”

9to5Mac says that Apple Music now has a “much smarter way” of handling alternate album versions – one it has belatedly copied from the original Beats service.

The development of Mac apps through Catalyst isn’t quite as easy as Apple made out, especially if a developer wants to optimize for the Mac platform.
