Wireless charging in style with the Courant Carry Power Bank

We review a lot of external battery packs and chargers here at Apple World Today, and one of the things that always strikes me as odd is how ugly most of them are! That’s not the case with Courant Carry Power Bank (US$150), a sleek, pocketable wireless charger wrapped in Italian leather. It not only charges your Qi-compatible devices, but it can be charged wirelessly as well. Let’s take a look:

Design

Carry’s Italian leather wrap comes in five colors: Black, Ash, Bone, Dusty Rose and Pacific Blue. The leather has a nice pebbled texture to it that feels great in the hand and gives the power bank a nice grip. It has nicely curved edges and just looks like something you want to hold!

On one end is a single USB-C port for charging. Courant includes a USB to USB-C adapter for those who don’t currently use USB-C cables, and there’s also a nice little carry bag to put the Carry into when it’s not being used. On the side there’s a small power button and three tiny white LEDs. The button is used to start and stop charging, while the LEDs indicate the charge level in the battery pack.

Capacity-wise, this sleek little charger holds 8,000 mAh of energy, which is enough to recharge an iPhone 11 Pro Max twice. By sleek, I mean that it’s not as bulky as many of the smaller capacity wireless power banks I’ve reviewed — it has exterior dimensions of 5.5 x 2.9 x 0.7 in (13.97 x 7.37 x 1.78 cm) and weighs just 8.6 ounces (243.8 grams).

Function

What a great way to charge up a power bank — you just drop it onto whatever you normally use to charge your iPhone and a wireless charging pad on the bottom starts working to charge the battery. Put your iPhone on top of that “stack” and it will be charged at the same time with pass-through charging.

I like the little leather patch on the bottom of the Carry, which keeps it from sliding on hard surfaces. During my review, I placed the Carry on my car’s center console and my iPhone 11 Pro Max on top of the Carry, and the stack stayed put while I was driving.

Since I always find those power plugs on airplanes to be unusable or out of order, I plan on keeping the Carry in my tech backpack at all times in the future. Being that it is smaller in length and width than my 11 Pro Max, it won’t take up any more space on the airplane tray table than the phone.

Conclusion

Both good looking and highly functional, the Courant Carry Power Bank is one of the best wireless chargers I’ve had the pleasure to review. It IS more expensive than your average plastic-covered charger, but if you appreciate good workmanship and design, you’ll love the Carry.
