Australia’s Westpac Bank to add Apple Pay support

Westpac is the final big four bank in Australia to allow its customers to support Apple Pay and will rolling out access to Apple’s mobile payment service across its various brands by mid-2020, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

The country’s second largest bank said the payment service is now available for the St George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne brands.

“We want to assure Westpac customers we are working to bring them Apple Pay as quickly as possible, while we rollout the technology across our different banking platforms,” David Lindberg, chief executive of consumer banking, told The Herald.

ANZ (Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited) became the country’s first bank to support the mobile payment service in 2016. National Australia Bank and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia announced support for Apple pay almost a year ago today.
