My iPhone Pro 11 Max has about 4-5 hours more battery life than my previous iPhone (the XS Max) — about 14 hours compared to 11 — and that’s plenty of juice to get me through a day (maybe two) without recharging. However, if you need your 2019 Apple smartphone to last longer than this, one solution is mophie’s juice pack access battery case, which is made to protect and wirelessly charge the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The juice pack access for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro comes equipped with a 2,000m Ah integrated battery, while the juice pack access for the iPhone 11 Pro Max includes a 2,200m Ah integrated battery. Respectively, they provide approximately 25 hours and 31 hours of total talk time.
Each case employs Qi wireless charging technology to pass power to the smartphone. This leaves the Lightning port free for wired iPhone charging or attaching wired earbuds.
The juice pack access battery case’s Qi-enabled wireless charging input purportedly works with all mophie wireless accessories (it does with the ones I’ve tried, but I don’t have all of mophie’s accessories) and wireless charging pads commonly found in airports, cafes, and vehicles. Its priority+ charging passes wireless and wired power to the iPhone first before recharging the juice pack access.
In addition to providing extra battery life, the mophie battery/case combo is relatively protective. Its internal rubberized support pads and raised corners help protect your expensive iPhone if you drop it or bang it against something. Plus, it’s on/off button means you can power it down when you don’t need it.
Despite all the benefits, there are some downsides. The juice pack access battery case adds some non-inconsiderable bulk to your iPhone. It weighs. .2 pounds and measures 2.92 x 5.77 x 0.69 inches.
Also, I found that the case got surprisingly warm when in use. Not hot, just warm enough to be disconcerting. And at $99.95, it’ll cost you.
If you really need extra power, I’d consider buying an external power supply instead. Mophie’s case/battery is a good idea that falls short in its implementation.
