Variety reports that Charlie Hunnam has been cast in the upcoming Shantaram series that will air on Apple TV+, Apple’s streaming service that’s set to debut Nov. 1.
Hunnam is an actor and model perhaps best known for playing Jackson “Jax” Teller in the FX drama series, Sons of Anarchy. He’s also appeared in the movies Nicholas Nickleby, Pacific Rim, The Lost City of Z, and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
The series is based on Gregory David Robert’s 2003 novel that tells the story of Lin, a man on the run from an Australian prison looking to get lost in the teeming city of Bombay. Cut off from family and friends by distance and fate, he finds a new life in the slums, bars and underworld of India. The novel has been published in 39 languages in 42 territories worldwide and sold six million copies.
