Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference kicks off today with a keynote event at 10 a.m. (Pacific). Following is what I’m expecting to see announced during the keynote.
There’s a 99.99% chance we’ll see the next generations of macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS announced. If this doesn’t happen, I’ll swear off ice cream. And I LOVE ice cream.
I also expect to see the long-awaited modular Mac Pro announced, along with the rumored 31-inch Apple display. Whether they’ll be available this week is a question mark. However, I think the display will be available within a week to 10 days as it should be a great fit for the 2018 Mac mini and the just-updated MacBook Pros.
A few weeks ago, I thought we’d see the rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro unveiled at WWDC. However, since Apple surprised us with an MB Pro update on May 21, I expect the super-sized laptop won’t arrive until spring 2020.
Also, since the iMac was updated on March 19, don’t expect the standard all-in-one to see any sort of update next next spring, as well. An upgraded iMac Pro could be unveiled this week, but, if the new Mac Pro is announced or previewed, I don’t think Apple will want its pro all-in-one stealing the Mac Pro’s spotlight.
As for new iPads and iPad Pros, those probably won’t arrive until September and October, respectively. The Apple Watch Series 5 also isn’t likely until post-summer. Ditto any new, revamped HomePods.
If Apple is planning an update of the Apple TV set-top box, that probably won’t be announced until the Apple TV+ streaming service arrives this fall.
