News round-up: Health Canada green lights the Apple Watch ECG app (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Canadians who purchased an Apple Watch Series 4 in Canada may soon get the device’s electrocardiogram (ECG) app and irregular rhythm notifications, as both features have been approved by Health Canada, according to iPhoneInCanada.

Apple Pay has launched in Hungary and Luxembourg with support for credit and debit cards from Mastercard, VISA, and regional banks.

Starting today, transit riders in the Portland-Vancouver region will be able to use their Apple iPhone and Apple Watch to ride TriMet, C-TRAN and Portland Streetcar. In a first-in-the-nation deal, TriMet and C-Tran are partnering with Apple to add Hop Fastpass to Apple Wallet, allowing Apple phones and watches to be used for boardings.Apple Pay has launched in Hungary and Luxembourg with support for credit and debit cards from Mastercard, VISA, and regional banks, reports the Portland Tribune.

Apple is now selling a new generation LG UltraFine 4K Display for the same $699 price as the previous generation. 

To celebrate the season of Ramadan and Eid, Apple is championing local creativity in the UAE and Middle East with a new “Shot on iPhone” campaign called, “Finding Balance,” reports The Drum.

The Verge says that Apple and Amazon cut a deal that upended the Mac resale market. Six months after Apple moved in, small sellers have all but disappeared from Amazon Marketplace, the article adds.
