Plans for first Apple retail store in Israel fall apart

The Azrieli Group, the property developer and mall owner, has dropped efforts to open an official Apple Store in Tel Aviv after negotiation with the U.S. company broke down over financial terms. It would have been the tech giant’s first retail store in the country.

Haaretz reports that Azrieli had been in talks with Apple about opening a store in the Azrieli Sarona Tower, but wouldn’t agree to Apple’s financial terms after negotiations. In June 2018 it was revealed that the Azrieli Mall Group was in preliminary negotiations to establish a first store for the electronics giant in the mall that will open in the new [Azrieli tower]. The Azrieli Center (pictured) is a complex of skyscrapers in Tel Aviv. At the base of the center lies a large shopping mall.

Haaretz says that Apple has also been weighing stores on Tel Aviv’s Rothschild Boulevard and Jerusalem’s Malcha mall. No work on how those talks are going.
