Another day, another lawsuit. A New York City man filed a $1 billion suit Monday claiming tech giant Apple used in-store facial recognition security technology to wrongly tie his name to the face of an alleged thief, leading to his arrest, reports Law360.
18-year-old New Yorker Ousmane Bah said he was arrested at his home in New York in November and charged with stealing from an Apple retail store. The arrest warrant included a photo that didn’t resemble him, he claims. Monday. Plus, one of the thefts he was charged with, in Boston, took place on the day in June he was attending his senior prom in Manhattan, Bah said.
His lawsuit says he “was forced to respond to multiple false allegations which led to severe stress and hardship.” Bah is also suing security firm Security Industry Specialists.
