Expanded Xbox Live support coming to iOS games

A note  regarding the sessions at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (March 18-22) notes that Jeffrey Shi and Ramsey Khadder of Microsoft’s Xbox team will lead a session about how Xbox Live will expand to iOS and Android devices.

The note says that it will expand from 400 million gaming devices and a reach to over 68 million active players to over two billion devices with the release of the new, cross-platform Xbox Developer Kit (XDK). Actually, Xbox Live is already on iOS, but only in Microsoft games. The XDK will bring that capability to third party games for the iPhone and iPad.

Xbox Live is an online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery service created and operated by Microsoft. It’s available as both a free service, known as Xbox Live Silver and a subscription-based service known as Xbox Live Gold, respectively, with most features such as online gaming restricted to the Gold service.
