Apple has agreed to acquire PullString, a San Francisco-based startup that enables the design and publishing of voice apps with the goal of helping Siri better compete with Siri, reports Axios, quoting unnamed “multiple sources.”
PullString was founded in 2011 by former Pixar executives “to realize the dream of higher fidelity computer conversation,” according to the company’s website. It specializes in technology, tools, and techniques for designing, prototyping, and publishing voice apps and conversational experiences.
Its software, PullString Converse (pictured), allows designers and developers to create “immersive” voice apps for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Internet of Things devices. If Axios is correct, that list will soon include Siri (and perhaps only Siri).
