Apple Daily Report: Apple could be planning a renewed focus on the Mac (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

A new report from The Wall Street Journal notes that Apple is shaking up leadership and reordering priorities across its services, artificial intelligence, hardware and retail divisions as it works to reduce the company’s reliance on iPhone sales. If today’s rumors are true, it seems there could be a renewed focus on the Mac, according to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me).

The U.S. government recently accused of stealing trade secrets China-based Huawei Technologies. A new report by The Information sheds light on Huawei’s tactics, which often rips off Apple, one of its chief competitors.

UK lawmakers said Facebook “intentionally and knowingly” violated both data privacy and anti-competition laws in a report as noted by The MacObserver. They also called for tech companies to follow a compulsory ethics code, overseen and legally enforceable by an independent regulator.

Apple has released a third developer beta of macOS Mojave 10.14.1. Registered developers can download the beta via Apple’s developer portal. Or it can be downloaded over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.
