Apple Daily Report: Anker launches MFi certified USB-C to Lightning cable (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

Anker has launched its PowerLine II USB-C to Lightning cable, the first of Anker’s new USB-C to Lightning cable series to receive Apple’s official MFi certification. Deadline reports that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney have finalized the cast for a straight-to-series half-hour comedy show greenlit by Apple for its upcoming video streaming service.



On the latest episode of The Talk Show, Daring Fireball‘s John Gruber says the Apple TV is sold at cost and that Apple actually sells the HomePod at a slight loss.

In January Target announced that it would son begin accepting Apple Pay. That rollout has now begun, according to MacRumors

Morgan Stanley’ analyst Katy Huberty predicts that an Apple media bundle including a video streaming service and a News subscription service will return the company to a $1 trillion valuation, according to AppleInsider.

Apple is now selling refurbished iPhone X models for the first time since the device was released in November 2017.

CNBC reports that an unnamed “high-level Apple executive” has met with the 14-year-old boy who found the FaceTime snooping bug. Grant Thompson, who discovered the flaw, may get a bounty for his discovery. 

Apple has posted the second developer betas of macOS 10.14.4, iOS 12.2, tvOS 12.2, and watchOS 5.2. Registered developers can download the betas via Apple’s developer portal. Or they can be downloaded over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center. 

Roku is in discussions with Apple about supporting AirPlay 2, according to MacRumors, quoting an unnamed “source familiar with the matter.” The plans are not finalized and are subject to change, the article adds.
