VIZIO reveals SmartCast 3.0, adding support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit

VIZIO, Inc. has announced today the latest iteration of its smart TV experience, VIZIO SmartCast 3.0, which will offer support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple’s HomeKit, a framework that allows control of compatible home automation devices through iOS and Siri. 

Thanks to AirPlay 2, VIZIO SmartCast users will soon be able to easily play videos, music, photos and more directly from their iPhone, iPad, and Mac to SmartCast TVs. And HomeKit will enable customers to control their SmartCast TVs using Apple’s Home app or by asking Siri. Support for AirPlay 2 and 



HomeKit on VIZIO SmartCast TVs will be available for registered beta members across the U.S. and Canada to experience in the first quarter. Following the beta, VIZIO SmartCast 3.0 will roll out via free cloud-based updates to new and existing SmartCast TVs and displays in quarter two of 2019.
