Apple Daily Report: Report pegs new iPad mini, updated 9.7-inch iPad soon (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

I’m still dubious we’re going to see an updated iPad mini, but two suppliers of touch panels in Taiwan say they expect to supply screens for the fifth generation iPad mini and a new 2019 iPad.

Apple CEO has penned an editorial  for TIME magazine entitled “You Deserve Privacy Online. Here’s How You Could Actually Get It.”

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, an Apple chip manufacturer, has cut full-year investment and forecast its sharpest quarterly revenue fall in a decade.

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) says in a report that 66 of the world’s 500 largest companies had used “incorrect labels” for Taiwan and 53 had errors in the way they referred to Hong Kong, according to China’s Legal Daily newspaper. It said 45, including Apple, had referred to both territories incorrectly.

The tax incentives for Apple’s planned new corporate campus in north Austin, Texas, could double if the project lives up to its $1 billion billing,, according to the Austin Statesman.

In a blog post, the NHL says NHL coaches will soon have access to more than 60 different real-time individual and team statistics on iPads positioned on the bench during games through an app developed by the League, SAP and Apple.
