Apple Daily Report: The iPhone Xr is now available SIM-free in the U.S. (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

The iPhone Xr is available SIM-free in the U.S. This means you can buy it unlocked and obtain a SIM from your carrier of choice.

The Financial Times (a subscription is required to read the article) says the Trump administration’s promise that corporate tax reforms would create U.S. jobs as companies use repatriated cash to boost investment hasn’t happened as companies like Apple used those reforms to benefit investors, not create jobs.

Podcasting solution provider Voxnest has announced the integration of Siri Sortcuts in the company’s Spreaker Studio App, enabling podcasters to create custom voice commands for predefined actions. The app’s new capabilities purportedly make it even easier to produce audio content and even broadcast live.

On its Newsroom page, Apple has shared a collection of photos showing the iPhone Xr’s photographic capabilities.

Apple stock may be down 19% from its Oct. 3 peak in the wake of (alleged) waning iPhone demand, but investors on Robinhood, a free-trading app popular among younger traders, have been snapping up shares, reports Business Insider. Apple is the favorite stock among Robinhood traders, and the first stock to pass 200,000 owners on the app.
