Apple Daily Report: Apple Pay may finally be coming to Target (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

While Apple Pay is slowly gaining adoption from retailers everywhere, one notable holdout has been Target. According to a handful of shoppers at a Target store in San Francisco, however, the retailer could be testing Apple Pay support at its physical locations, reports 9to5Mac.

As noted by MacRumors, Apple has released new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max silicone cases, as well as Apple Watch Sport Bands, in three new colors: hibiscus, mellow yellow, and pacific green. In addition, Apple has begun selling the new Nike Sport Loop and Sport Band options that debuted on nike.com earlier this month in celestial teal, olive flak, and smokey mauve. 



More than 700 apps have been removed from the Chinese Apple App Store in recent days, according to the Telegraph. They’ve apparently been banned for flouting App Store rules that prohibit companies from installing software updates on their apps without Apple’s permission.

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty says iPhones could cost up to $160 more if the China tariff threat by the Trump administration is followed through.

The Apple Watch typically has a 14-day return policy, Apple will honor refund requests related to upcoming heart health features for up to 45 days after purchase, according to an internal document distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers in the U.S. obtained by MacRumors.

Plans to demolish part of Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia, to make way for a new Apple store have been pushed back a year but Premier Daniel Andrews says his re-elected government continues to support the project, according to The Age.

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has signed on for a supporting role in Apple’s upcoming psychological thriller series from M. Night Shyamalan (Unbreakable, Split) and British TV writer Tony Basgallop (24, To The Ends of the Earth), reports Deadline.

Apple has posted a new short film in its “Shot on iPhone” marketing campaign, “Lady Misaki,” about Japan’s “decotora,” extravagantly painted trucks.
