How to implement Stacks in macOS Mojave

macOS Mojave introduces a feature called Stacks, which clears cluttered desktops by automatically organizing files into groups based on file types like images, presentations, PDFs and text documents.

Users can also customize Stacks to sort based on other file attributes, including date and tags. Stacked files can be accessed by clicking to expand a Stack and then opening a file. Here’s how to create Stacks:

  • Make sure that you’re “in” the Finder, not an app.

  • Choose View in the menubar.

  • Select Use Stacks.

Your desktop files will be organized into Stacks based on their type.
