Apple wins an Emmy award For ‘Carpool Karaoke’ spinoff

Apple’s Carpool Karaoke spinoff has won Emmy nomination in the short-form category. It was the company’s first Emmy for original content, joining several technical/engineering Emmy Awards the Silicon Valley company has won over the years, first in 2011 for developing FireWire and most recently in 2017 for Siri’s integration into the Apple TV set-top box.

Apple Music’s nomination came in the variety series category, where it was up against digital shorts from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and NBC’s Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The Television Academy handed out the short-form Emmy awards as part of the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 8 and 9.

Based on the popular segment from The Late Late Show with James Corden, Carpool Karaoke: The Series is produced for Apple Music by CBS Television Studios and Fulwell 73. Corden and Ben Winston are the creators and executive producers, along with executive producer Eric Pankowski.
