Apple Daily Report: mock-ups of the upcoming iPad Pro update (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Onleaks sources and MySmartPrice have mocked up images of what they believe the upcoming iPad Pro — likely to debut next week — will look like based on the latest schematics and leaks. In addition to the thinner equidistant bezels, these renders show that Apple is swapping curved chamfered edges of the last few iPad generations with new squared-off flat sides. 

Former Apple software engineer Ken Kocienda is releasing a new book entitled Creative Selection. It presents a look inside Apple’s design process through his involvement with a few key features across a variety of platforms and devices.



Apple Music will host a concert by synthpop band Christine and the Queens in Paris on Sept. 13, marking both the debut of a new album, “Chris,” and a short film about it.

Quotas obligating Apple, Netflix, Amazon and other streaming services operating in the European Union to dedicate at least 30% of their on-demand catalogs to local content are set to become enshrined in law soon, reports Variety. Roberto Viola, head of the European Commission department that regulates communications networks, content and technology, said the new rules, which will also demand visibility and prominence of European product on streamers, are on track to be approved in December.

Thieves have raided the fifth Bay Area Apple Store in less than two weeks, grabbing around $50,000’s worth of display products in less than 30 seconds. It’s also the fourth time than this particular store has been robbed, notes ABC7News.

The LAGOS jewelry brand has announced a 60-day exclusive with luxury retailer Bloomingdale’s to launch an innovative collection of sterling silver, 18K gold, and diamond bracelets made for the Apple Watch. Distribution will broaden incrementally after Nov. 1.

iOS 11 is now installed on 85% of iPhones and iPads, according to updated statistics Apple shared today on its App Store support page for developers.
