The ability to make requests on a HomePod via the “Hey, Siri” command can be very useful. However, it can also be irritating.
For example, when I’m sitting at my desk and try to invoke “Hey, Siri” on my iMac, often the HomePod in my home office will respond, as well, even if I don’t want it to. For example, I may tell my iMac to “Open Mail.” It will, but then my HomePod will chirp in and tell me it’s unable to do that.
Thanksfully, you can disable the “Hey Siri” option on the speaker. Go the settings in the Home app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap the “Hey Siri” toggle so it’s in the off position. Or you can simply say “Hey Siri, disable Hey Siri.” The HomePod will then ask you to confirm with a “yes” to disable the voice command feature.
You’ll have to use the HomePod settings and reverse the process to turn back on the “Hey Siri” toggle or use the HomePod touch controls to use Siri again.
