Apple has released updated 7.8 firmware for 2012 802.11n AirPort Express models. It adds adds AirPlay 2 support to 802.11n AirPort Express base stations even though the company is no longer building new models of the router.
Using AirPlay 2, you can instantly send sound from any AirPlay-compatible iOS app to Sonos. That means you’ll have yet another way to use Sonos to listen to services like Apple Music, Spotify, Audible, Pandora, and more. AirPlay also lets you unlock sound from a whole selection of content apps and services. If it has an AirPlay icon, you can stream it on Sonos.
