I’m a fan of Apple’s Wallet app for iOS, but not as big a fan as I could be due to its limitations. Thankfully, MicroMacro Mobile’s Pass2U Wallet helps overcome those limitations.
With Wallet, you can use passes on your smartphone to check in for flights, get in to movies, or redeem coupons. Passes can include useful information like the balance on your coffee card, your coupon’s expiration date, your seat number for a concert, and more. You can add passes to Wallet in several ways:
- Using Wallet-enabled apps (like Fandango, American Airlines, or Walgreens).;
- With Mail or Messages;
- Through a web browser;
- Scanning a barcode or QR code;
- Sharing through AirDrop;
- From your Mac;
- Tapping a Wallet notification that you got after paying with Apple Pay at a supported merchant.
Unfortunately, the app officially supports just a handful of stores and brands. Apple recommends that if you don’t see the option to add a card, ticket, or other service to Wallet, you contact the merchant to make sure that they support Wallet passes. That’s all well and good, but sometimes I want to add an item NOW. Thankfully, there’s a way to add anything with a barcode to these apps, whether it’s officially supported or not: Pass2U Wallet, which allows you to add and manage all of your cards/tickets in the native iOS app easily.
It supports a variety of items, such as store cards, membership cards, reward cards, coupons, stamp cards, movie tickets, boarding passes, business cards, identity cards, community cards, gift cards, event tickets, transportation tickets, receipts and more, allowing you can add them to Wallet. You can search keywords, sort, delete, archive the different kind of Wallet Passes which are created or issued by Pass2U.
Create? Yep. You can scan the barcode of paper/cards, manually enter the barcode on the paper/cards, use the app to read the barcode in photos, or directly apply the pass templates on MicroMacro Mobile’s Pass Store. For example, I’ve created passes for Regal Cinemas Crown Club, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and more.
With the pro version (a $1.99 in-app purchase, which I recommend) you can directly apply the pass templates or design the templates what you like. You can also can update, delete, or preview the templates. Multiple notifications with applying the templates, for example, expiration date, event date, or location.
With both the free and pro versions, you can enter event date or locations when creating the pass. It will show up the notification when you’re near the locations or the close to the event date.
Pass2U Wallet is a good-looking app and user friendly. If you want to kick iOS’ Wallet up a level, Pass2U Wallet is what you need.
