Dallas construction company Rogers-O’Brien started using iPads five years ago, and the move has saved the company about $1.8 million per year, according to Business Insider. Of 340 employees working for the firm, 190 have an Apple tablet for work.
Todd Wrynne, Rogers-O’Brien’s director of applied technology, tells Business Insider that the iPads are used to help manage the massive amount of paperwork involved in a construction project and also helps reduce the amount of paper used.
Moving from a paper-based approach to the iPad saved $10,000 per project in printing costs alone, he adds. Also, the ability to use the Apple tablet for checking in at a construction site instead of traveling to an on-site trailer is estimated to have saved close to 55,000 hours of employee time.
