Marked 2 is a macOS app that does one thing very, very well — it previews Markdown and other text markup languages like HTML and OPML so that writers see rendered and styled versions before publishing them. Make a change in your favorite text editor, and Marked 2 changes the preview instantly. After a year of hard work, Marked 2 developer Brett Terpstra is releasing Marked 2.5.11 (943) today with a number of new features, improvements and fixes.
The update is so impressive that it takes up a full page of release notes, but the highlights are enough to make the update worth installing as quickly as possible:
- Support for IA Writer file include syntax (/filename)
- Convert externally-referenced CSV files into Markdown tables
- New and updated app compatibility:
- MarsEdit 4
- Scrivener 3
- Highland (and updated Fountain.io support)
- TextPack (compressed TextBundles) handling
- Highland (and updated Fountain.io support)
- Scrivener 3
- MarsEdit 4
- A new Edward Tufte inspired preview style: Ink
- Spelling and Grammar check included for all users (no longer an In App Purchase)
Marked 2 is a must-have for anyone who writes in Markdown with a traditional text editor, develops web pages in HTML, or writes code. The app is available from the Mac App Store for $13.99, and the update is free to existing owners. A free trial is also available from the Marked 2 website, and the app is also part of the SetApp app bundle.
