Rumor: Samsung to start production of the iPhone X Plus in May

As noted by The Apple Post, Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claims Samsung will begin production of new OLED displays for the next gen iPhone X, and the rumored “iPhone X Plus” in May, with plans to double its production in July.

The article says the tech giant is beginning production of the next line of iPhones early to help alleviate supply constraints faced by the iPhone X when it launched last fall.

Chances the rumor is true, per the Sellers Research Group (that’s me): 90%. It makes sense that Apple would want to avoid the production problems of 2017.

As for new Apple smartphones, I think the follow-up to the iPhone X will keep the same $999 price point, but will be joined by the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus that will cost $1,100 (or even $1,200, depending on which new features are introduced).
