On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.
iOS Apps/Updates
Seth Hoffman has launched Janie and the Hummingbird 1.0.1. It’s a $2.99 colorful bilingual storybook for children of all ages in which “Seth” can sing you the song of the story in English or Spanish. Seth can also read you the story, and the words highlight as he reads. Finally, you can read it yourself and go on a treasure hunt to find vocabulary word images hidden within the illustrations.
macOS Apps/Updates
Ergonis Software has released Typinator 7.5, a new version of the text expander for macOS 10.6 or newer.
The new version extends Typinator’s scripting possibilities by adding specific scripting functions that enable users to control the processing of an abbreviation depending on its context. It also packs 20 other usability, stability, and compatibility improvements.
Typinator can be purchased at the Ergonis Software website. The upgrade to Typinator 7.5 is free for Typinator 7 license owners and for anyone who purchased a license for Typinator 6 in or after January 2016. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses.
Zevrix Solutions has announced Output Factory 2.2.11, a feature update to the output automation solution for Adobe InDesign.
Output Factory helps users automate printing and exporting from InDesign by offering batch processing, single page export, layer versioning, custom scripts integration and more. Version 2.2.11 adds an option to keep original page numbers when splitting InDesign files into single pages or spreads.
Output Factory can be purchased from the Zevrix website for $169.95 (there’s a “lite” version $119.95). A demo is available for download. The update is free for the users of Output Factory 2.x, and $84.97 to upgrade from Output Factory 1.x and BatchOutput. Output Factory requires macOS 10.7-10.13 and Adobe InDesign CS3-CC 2018.
