Barclays: Apple won’t pack a a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter with 2018 iPhones (but I think they will)

Barclays thinks the new Apple iPhones expected to launch this fall won’t include a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter in the box.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks this will happen, but not this year. It would tick off too many folks — thoughI do think Apple will quit bundling the adapter in 2019.

Apple still sells the Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter for $9 as a standalone accessory, so if the company does quit an adapter with new smartphones, it won’t be TOO much extra expense. On the other hand, since it is only $9, hopefully Apple will just toss one in the new iPhone packaging and not raise the ire of some customers.
