Technogym’s cardio equipment now offers Apple Watch, GymKit support

Technogym has announced that its cardio equipment is now compatible with the Apple Watch using Apple’s GymKit technology.

With GymKit, customers using their favorite cardio equipment can pair their Apple Watch directly to treadmills, ellipticals, indoor bikes or stair steppers from global manufacturers such as Life Fitness and Technogym with a tap.

After the first ever fitness club in the world offering Apple GymKit compatibility on Technogym equipment launched last November in Sydney (Australia), the international supplier of technology and design driven products and services in the wellness and fitness industry says it now features an installed base of more than 5,000 Apple GymKit-enabled pieces of equipment in hundreds of fitness clubs all over the world.

Apple Watch users can now track their indoor exercise (at home or at their fitness center) by tapping their Apple Watch to Apple GymKit-enabled Technogym cardio equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, indoor bikes or stair steppers. Data not previously communicated will sync, including active and total calories, distance, speed, floors climbed, incline and pace, resulting in the most accurate measurements possible. Now when Apple Watch customers view metrics during their workout, the metrics on the Technogym equipment match what they see on their wrists.
