Apple App Store no longer available in Iran

The Apple App Store is no longer available in Iran, according to Bleeping Computer. The block appears to be IP-based.

Users weren’t able to connect to the Apple App Store to install or update applications. When visiting the App Store, they saw this message: ”The App Store is unavailable in the country or region you’re in”.

Meysam Firouzi, an Iranian security researcher, told Bleeping Computer that he successfully connected to the App Store while using a VPN, despite having Iran-related details set on his account. Apple hasn’t formally announced any such action and hasn’t responded to requests for a comment.

Last August Apple has removed several Iranian apps from international Apple App Stores, saying the move is in line with U.S. sanctions against the country. The tech giant has no official presence in the country and there’s no Iranian version of the Apple App Store.
