According to an unnamed tipster at Best Buy, Apple is preparing to launch the AirPower wireless charging mat and new AirPods wireless charging case in March, claiming that Best Buy will stock AirPower from day one online and in-store., claims The Apple Post.
Announced at Apple’s iPhone event in September 2017, the AirPower will be able to charge a Qi-compatible iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a pair of AirPods (in a special wireless charging case) at the same time regardless of where they’re placed on the pad. AirPower hasn’t been priced yet, but guesses have it costing anywhere from $150 – $200.
Chances the rumor is true, according to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me): 60%. I think we’re more likely looking at an April-May time frame. That said, I hope I’m wrong and that the AirPower does hit stores next month.
