Apple Daily Report for December 7, 2017

The AWT News Update is on hiatus while my compadre, Steve, deals with some family issues. In its place, I’ll offer a text-only (no podcast) summary of breaking stories with a tip o’ my hat to my former website, Apple Daily Report.

LG Display has responded to speculation that the company signed an agreement with Apple to supply OLED panels for the iPhone X. “Regarding the OLED supply deal for Apple’s iPhone X, nothing has been set in detail. When anything is confirmed in detail, we will announce it,” the company says. 

Apple will release three iPhones in 2018, including two OLED models and one LCD model that could feature a metal back like the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, reports Nikkei

Apple TV’s new Amazon app has a problem. While the video side of the app might be working nicely, though, the audio side isn’t, as it’s only outputting sound in PCM stereo.”

Next week the Federal Communications Commission will hold a historic vote to roll back Obama-era regulations that ensure telecoms companies respect the free and open nature of the Internet. And protests are being organized nationwide outside Verizon stores.

Shares in Skyworks Solutions, Cirrus Logic, and Qorvo traded higher on Thursday after fellow Apple supplier Broadcom hinted the late launch of iPhone X would help revenue rise.
