Macs sales set an all-time quarterly record with 5.4 million units sold

Mac sales were up 25% year-over-year by unit number in Apple’s fiscal 2017 fourth quarter that ended Sept. 30. Apple desktop/laptop numbers were 5.4 million for the quarter compared to the 4.9 million Macs sold in the same period of 2016.

The quarter was an all-time sales high for Macs in Greater China. Worldwide Mac and iPad sales set all-time highs in global education markets. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the fiscal 2017 fourth quarter saw the highest annual Mac revenue in Apple’s history thanks to notebook refresh and back-to-school sales.

He adds that the “Mac experience has become even better since the September launch of macOS High Sierra. Cook says it packs new technology making it more reliable, capable, and responsive and that lays the foundation for future innovations.

Apple Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri says that the Mac continues to gain traction in the enterprise market. The market saw an all-time record for customer purchases in fiscal year 2017.
