Lynn University has been selected as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017–2019 for its iPad-powered learning program. This marks the third consecutive time that Lynn has been named as a Distinguished School for continuous innovation in learning, teaching and its environment and for showing documented results of academic accomplishment.
Lynn University is an independent college based in Boca Raton, Florida, with approximately 3,000 students from 100 countries. U.S. News & World Report ranks Lynn as the top international university in the region. According to Apple, Apple Distinguished Schools “are centers of leadership and educational excellence that demonstrate Apple’s vision for learning with technology.”
Since its launch in 2013, Lynn’s iPad-powered learning has saved students up to 90% off the cost of textbooks and contributed to improved learning outcomes and higher levels of student engagement, according to Chris Boniforti, the school’s chief information officer. In surveys, 88% of first-year Lynn students said that technology contributed to their understanding of course material and 89% said they feel that iPad better connects them with their classmates.
The university’s use of iPad has also resulted in less PC-centric use of rooms and study areas across campus, enabling the school to develop spaces with more versatility. In the library, for example, the university converted a computer lab to provide a larger and more centrally located career center.
