The Financial Times reports that supplier Foxconn illegally employed and overworked students due to the production delays with the iPhone X. Six of the students told the publication that they regularly work 11-hour days at a factory in Zhengzhou.
The violates the Chinese law for interns. Apple told the FT that an audit showed instances of students working overtime but “we’ve confirmed the students worked voluntarily, were compensated and provided benefits, but they should not have been allowed to work overtime.”
